“Iannis Xenakis 1922 – 2001” The Musical Myth 20 Years Later…

The Philharmonic Society Odeon of Patras and the “I. & E. Topalis” Foundation co-organize and invite you to attend a tribute to the internationally renowned Greek musician Iannis Xenakis, on Monday, December 20, 2021, at 7:00 p.m.

The event will include:

a) A lecture by Professor Giannis Mourtzouplos from the University of Patras, Department of Telecommunications and Information Technology, on the topic:
“Three encounters with the work of Iannis Xenakis.”

b) A lecture by Civil Engineer, music critic and historian Giorgos Monevassitis, on the topic:
“Iannis Xenakis, the engineer, the architect, the composer.”

Works by Xenakis will be performed by soloists:
Tania Sikelianou (violin) and Panos Thoidis (percussion).

The tribute will conclude with the screening of a documentary about Iannis Xenakis (provided by ERT).

The event will take place at the Concert Hall of the Philharmonic Society Odeon of Patras (Riga Feraiou 7).

Admission is free, but those wishing to attend must reserve a seat by calling 2610-277740 by 1:00 p.m. on Monday, December 20, 2021. Half of the seats are reserved for University of Patras students.

Entrance requires presentation of a vaccination or recovery certificate, along with identity verification. Minors aged 11-17 must present a negative rapid test certificate from the last 48 hours.
